Since its inception in 2002, the Vehbi Koç Award, coordinated and financed by Vehbi Koç Foundation, is given annually for education, health and culture, respectively to INDIVIDUALS or ORGANIZATIONS that have contributed significantly to the development of Turkey and the people of Turkey. The Foundation determines each year how many awards it intends to distribute.
Vehbi Koç Foundation assumes the coordination and financing of the award.
The Vehbi Koç Award is given out for one of three fields; education, health, and culture, respectively.
The recipient of the award is chosen by the Vehbi Koç Foundation Board of Directors among three names nominated by the Selection Committee, consisting of leading scientists and experts in their fields.
The Selection Committee consists of leading scientists and experts in their fields. The Committee changes each year depending on the field for which the award will be given. Please click here to see the Selection Committees.
The nomination procedure does not involve personal applications. The award is given to an individual or organization nominated by the selection committee.
The award is presented to the winner at an awards ceremony held on the 25th of February every year as part of Vehbi Koç's commemoration events.
